"I think we all strive to push ourselves, to overcome our struggles.
I may not make formal New Year’s resolutions, but that doesn’t mean I don’t find myself thinking about 2018 and what I want to accomplish, how I want to feel, what I want to do and experience, how I want to show up (for myself and others), and how I want to create more meaning and fulfillment in my life.
I find myself thinking [again] about what I want to stop doing. So, I took some time this past week to re-read some of my old journals that contained writing assignments from coaching programs I’ve taken over the past five or six years.
Imagine my horror when I see I am still dealing with many of the same issues!
I know you are eager to know what those issues are, right?
I struggle with claiming my value. This looks like over-delivering and under-charging. This looks like minimizing my gifts and talents. This looks like saying “yes’ to other people’s needs and wants when I need to be saying ‘yes’ to my own self-care and self-worth. This looks like me feeling like I have to buy people’s friendship.
In 2018, here’s what I’m doing to help me claim my value. You may have noticed that my free sessions have gone down from 45-minutes to 15-minutes. I’ve stopped creating my Monday Meditation Minute. I’m alternating between my blog and video once a week. Instead of having all of my content being free, I have a plan this year to offer coursework and group sessions that will be fee-based. I am re-committing to using my Daily Power Planner (soon to be re-named) so I can focus on how I want to be, what I want to enjoy, my goals, my dreams, my gifts, and my passion.
I struggle with wanting to be all things to all people. In my logical mind, I know this isn’t possible, but it actually causes me pain in the belly if I think that someone who could use my help slips through the cracks. This looks like me refusing to state clearly who my niche, or target audience, is.
When I say "I work with women" then I get men emailing me saying they feel left out. When I say “I work with successful, mature women”, I get younger women emailing me saying they feel left out. The truth is, of course, I can work with anyone. If you feel called to work with me and read my blogs and watch my videos, then we’re a match. It doesn’t matter if you are a man or woman, young or old.
In 2018, I am taking a deep breath, claiming in a clear way who I love, love, love to work with (besides everyone!!!) and declare my niche (and I apologize in advance if you feel left out). Again, I’ve looked at my journals over the past five or six years and my heart and passion go to those who have struggled like I have struggled.
I am uber passionate about taking a stand for women stepping out of fear and self-doubt (and self-sabotage) so they can reclaim their power and mojo and be the inspiring, elegant, courageous, and passionate heroines they were born to be.
I work with worn-out women who are tired of saying ‘yes’ to everyone else but themselves and feel like they are settling and help them move from living life in neutral to living a bold, brilliant, and badass life.

And guess what? Just by going public with my ‘struggles’ I already feel lighter and brighter.
Of course it doesn’t hurt that I made some decisions and have a plan in place to address these issues. It feels liberating to take a stand for myself. When I am more present for myself, I think I can be more present for others.
And all of a sudden, 2018 feels like it will be a year of generosity, fun, enjoyment, enlightenment, travel, clarity, and accomplishment. All because I took a look (with eyes and heart wide open) at something I had put away in the closet of my mind (top shelf, behind the suitcases).
Now, of course, it’s time to ask you: What have you been struggling with (maybe for the past one year or 20 years) that you carry with you? What ideas impede your explosion into abundant prosperity, or exhilarating freedom, or unapologetic self-love? And what step can you take this year to turn that around?
I’d love to know what they are. Drop me a line and let me know. If you are brave enough, share by posting a comment.
